Description
This project involved the complete interior design of Kovil Patti Murukku Kadai, a 600 sq. ft sweet shop located in the heart of Chennai. The objective was to create an inviting retail space that reflects the brand’s strong traditional identity while incorporating modern design principles for functionality and appeal. We began by understanding the brand’s roots and the cultural significance of its products, allowing us to design a space that feels authentic and rooted in its heritage.
The layout was strategically planned to ensure smooth customer movement, with clear visibility of all product categories. Custom-built display counters were introduced to showcase the variety of sweets and snacks in an organized, attractive manner. Materials such as natural wood, locally inspired tiles, and warm ambient lighting were chosen to enhance the overall sensory experience, creating a connection between the product and the environment.
Attention was paid to branding elements within the space — from subtle traditional patterns and textures to curated signage that reflects the shop’s legacy. At the same time, we integrated contemporary elements such as clean-lined furniture, optimized lighting design, and efficient storage solutions to support day-to-day operations. The result is a thoughtfully designed space that balances culture and commerce, tradition and modernity — helping the brand make a memorable impression on every customer who walks in.
